What is the DELF?
The DELF (Diplôme d'études en langue française) and the DALF (Diplôme approfondi de langue française) are the official diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education which certify the French language competencies of international students. The DELF and the DALF are composed of six independent diplomas, corresponding to the six levels of the European Framework of reference for the languages. (CECR)

The tests can be taken at one of the 900 approved examination centers located in 154 countries.
The six diplomas which constitute the DELF and the DALF are completely independent. Thus, candidates, according to their level, can register directly for the exam of their choice. On each level, four competencies are evaluated: oral comprehension, oral production, reading comprehension and writing production.
A.L.I. DELF Preparation
Our DELF curriculum is an integral part of our Intensive French program. Students listen to tapes, learn phonetics, study documents and texts, and take DELF exams from previous years. During a session, students are given two DELF preparation quizzes, one as a midterm and the other as a final. These quizzes allow students to gauge how they would do, should they decide to take an official DELF exam.
The components of the DELF exam are skills based (listening comprehension, reading comprehension, oral production and written production) and involve the usage of general, rather than specific elements, of French.
Our intensive French program allows students to prepare for the DELF exam in the following manner:
 |
The core textbook used for our intensive French program is DELF approved, and contains DELF preparation material. |
 |
The skills portion of our intensive program allows students to increase their listening and reading comprehension skills. |
 |
The grammar portion allows students to increase their knowledge of how structures are used, both in written and oral forms thud helping the student’s oral and writing production. |
 |
Finally, the conversation portion of the program allows students to develop greater fluency for better oral production. |
